Danbury Plain Tile - Roxwell Church
Roxwell, Essex
St Michael and All Angels Church sits prominently in the centre of Roxwell, a small village just outside Chelmsford, Essex. The church can trace its origins back to the 14th Century with many modifications and enlargements occurring over its long history. Added to the listed buildings register in 1967 due to the quality of medieval architecture and fabric of the building, along with moments and furnishings. The restoration project has been championed by local residents. A lot of hard work and effort has been put in to secure funding for the project. The existing roof was fitted in the early 1900s and finding a close match to the existing peg tiles was an important part of retaining the character of this vital community asset. Bakers of Danbury were chosen as principal builders and we were pleased to be able to supply them with the Stoneleaf Danbury Handmade Plain Tiles in Red Blend. The natural clay tiles have a unique character and were chosen as the closest match to the original tiles (although not many of those were left after lots of patchwork repairs over the years. -
Visum 3 - Russet
Battlesbridge, Essex
Whilst carrying out an extensive refurbishment including replacing the existing plain tile roof of this property in Battlesbridge, Essex. The Homeowner wanted to retain the look of plain tiles but didn't want to put concrete plain tiles back on as the existing tiles being removed were in a terrible state and they wanted something to last. The Visum 3 in Russet was chosen as the tile for the job. The multi-colour pattern of the Russet tiles appealed to this homeowner. The colour for life warranty and 100 year guarantee helped convince this customer the Visum 3 was the right tile for the job. -
Visum 3 - Smooth Grey Colour
Ongar, Essex
For this project the Visum 3 presented the customer with a solution to an issue with supply. They were looking for plain tiles but with increasing leadtimes on both concrete and clay plain tiles they needed an alternative, and quickly! The Visum 3 with it's visual effect of looking like 3 plain tiles suited both the client and fitted in with the surrounding buildings. And the fact they made a saving per meter against traditional clay plain tiles sealed the deal!

Planum Clay Tile - Slate Grey Colour
Woodham Mortimer, Essex
This project presented the customer with a dilemma. They were looking for a flat thin leading edge tile but were restricted by a low pitch dormer roof at the rear of the property. The Planum fitted the bill, as it has the capability of being laid to as low as 10 degrees, and the thin profile was just the right style.
This contemporary looking property has been enhanced by the sleek lines of the Planums and has been contrasted by the Red Clay ridge drawing from the styles of traditional slate roofs often seen in this part of the country. -
Planum Clay Tile - Blackstone Colour
Ardleigh, Colchester, Essex
When looking for a modern looking alternative to slate this project's developers turned to the Planum in Blackstone. With a defined riven face and a high precision finish the Planum offered not just the right look but came in under budget.Making use of the clay cloak verge and interlocking dry ridge system meant the whole roof met the new standards laid out in the BS5534:2014 update and the newly introduced BS8612 standard for mortar free installations.

Celtic Grey Natural Slate - Sunningdale, Berkshire
Sunningdale, Berkshire
We were contacted by the German company who were building this magnificent house in Sunningdale, Berkshire, and asked to supply a selection of tiles in terms of colour, thickness and texture. Having looked at other projects, supplied by Stoneleaf in the local area, the client chose the Celtic Grey natural slate tile due to its quality, colour and distinctive rugged texture. A team arrived from Germany to carry out the roofing works which involved some unusual detailing on the ridges and hips; common in Germany but not the UK. The result is a spectacular looking roof, in keeping with the grandure of the property. -
Del Sil Natural Slate - Gt. Braxted, Essex

Barco Natural Slate - New London Rd
New London Road, Chelmsford
This project involved the re-roofing of an old hospice which had been originally slated with grey Welsh Ffestiniog slates. The building, which was developed into housing by Greenacre Developments, is in a conservation area of Chelmsford. The Stoneleaf Barco natural slate was chosen for two main reasons; its colour which resulted in the best match to the existing roof, and the ability to produce the diamond shaped ornamental feature to replicate the original design. -
Visum3 Clay Tile - Old England Colour
Goats Hall Lane, Essex
The customer was looking for a roofing material for a low pitch extension on their property, which has concrete interlocking tiles. The customer chose the Visum3 in the Old England colour as they liked the contrast created by the 3 colour mix which helped the building blend into the surrounding houses which have been clad in clay plain tiles. -
Visum3 Clay Tile - Rustic Red Colour
Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire
This large shopping centre roof required stripping and recovering in a short period of works. The surrounding buildings are clad in plain tiles so the the Visum3, which replicates the appearance of 3 tiles was a perfect choice. Moreover, the interlocking profile means it covers the same area as 6 traditional plain tiles all with one fixing. These key features of the Visum 3 enabled the contractor to complete the roof in a short programme and reduce labour costs.
