As our business continues to grow, we’re looking for an ambitious Branch Manager to lead our Chelmsford distribution centre and trade counter.

As Branch Manager, you’ll be at the heart of the branch’s success. We’re looking for someone who is commercially driven, people-focused, and hands-on, someone who takes pride in their team, their branch, and the service they deliver.

You’ll be empowered to make decisions, identify opportunities for growth, and shape the future success of the branch in Chelmsford, Essex.

From driving sales and building relationships with local contractors to leading and developing your team, this is a role where your impact will be visible every day.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Branch Manager, you’ll take full responsibility for the performance and day-to-day operations of the branch. Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing daily operations across sales, stock, and staff
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with local contractors, roofers, and trade customers
• Monitoring pricing, margins, and competitor activity within the local market
• Maintaining high standards of health & safety and compliance
• Coaching team members to improve sales performance, service, and product knowledge
• Supporting ongoing staff development through toolbox talks and product training
• Overseeing delivery logistics and transport coordination

 

What We’re Looking For

We’re searching for someone who brings experience, energy, and leadership to the role. The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience working in a builders merchant or roofing merchant environment
• Strong product knowledge and understanding of the trade
• Confidence in handling escalated customer queries or complaints professionally
• The ability to support and develop key customer accounts
• A genuine sense of pride in their branch, their customers, and their team

Additional Skills

• Full UK driving licence
• Counterbalance forklift experience is advantageous

After years of planning and preparation, we’ve moved into a modern new location at West Hanningfield, offering a fresh environment to showcase our products and meet with our valued clients.

It’s been a long, hot summer for the team operating in cramped temporary accommodation during the build, but everyone is delighted with the result.

Our new showroom is more than just a display space — it’s an experience. You’ll find extensive displays, technical information and a wide variety of products from our global production partners. As well as product displays, customers are able to see close up numerous products which we have integrated into the build. From 8 different styles of Velux windows, different colours of natural flooring, weatherboard cladding, and of course natural roof slates and solar panels on our steep roof elevations. No more trying to imagine what they might look like from a single sample, come take a look at how these products look in situ.

The trade counter has been fully stocked with specialist roofing tools from Monument, EDMA, and CMS, along with an array of sundry items like clips, nails and fixings. We have also incorporated a meeting area with ample space to spread out your building plans to discuss product options and technical details.

This move reflects our continued growth and commitment to serving you better.
